Ingham County Arrest Records
Arrest records are created when a law enforcement officer takes an arrested person into custody, and through a process called booking, takes a record of the offender’s name, personal information, fingerprint, mugshot, the alleged offence, time, date, and location of the arrest, charges, and the name of the arresting officer. This document is called an arrest record.
The purpose of this document is to serve as a record of the person’s arrest and store all necessary information in the law enforcement database. An arrest is not an indication of guilt. It also helps to build and document case progression. If the matter moves to trial, the arrest record is a foundation for subsequent court records. Ingham County arrest records are public and can be accessed through the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Nonetheless, arrest records, just like other public records, are subject to certain exemptions in the Michigan Freedom of Information Act. An arrest record may not be restricted when it concerns juvenile offenders or contains sensitive or confidential information. In
